The foreign body protection cap are used for the gentle and atraumatic removal of foreign bodies from the upper and lower gastrointestinal track. The protection cap is merely pulled over the distal end of the endoscope before insertion and turned up. It is folded down at the cardia when the endoscope is pulled back and thus protects the esophagus from the foreign body.
